We Shine Just as Bright

To all the men of today, I want you to know...
  • Women can do so much more than you think, women can work beyond the household and the children, in the same position you find yourself in everyday
  • Women are independent, expressive individuals in today's society
  • Women are more than the way they look
  • Women are intelligent, capable of fighting beyond the barriers put forth, often set to stand in their way and limit them from success
In the past women have stayed in the home, cared for their children, cooked for their husbands and, and cleaned for their family. But as we move forward in history, we see women step outside the household, we see women taking the place of men in the business world and becoming entrepreneurs of our community, not allowing others to stop them.

In the article There is no Unmarked Women, women are discussed as individuals who never go “unmarked” or unnoticed, no matter it be their black pantsuit or their bright yellow mini skirt, a woman’s appearance is said to never go unnoticed, unmentioned or unjudged. I think that this is often true, but with much thought, women are not able to know whether they are noticed or not, and it is the way in which they choose to express themselves, that they decide to be noticed or not. Yet, whether they are or not matters little, what matters is that they are expressing themselves, and not allowing others to stop them.

In the article Professions for Women, women are said to have taken on any and every profession out there. Barriers are a constant, not an option, pushing women to stop their work, but women continue to push through, not allowing others to stop them.

  1. I agree that women are always judged for almost anything they do, wear, or say. However, most women don't let that stop them from doing what makes them happy. I hope that one day, women won't be judged unfairly based on superficial things like appearance.

  2. I completely agree with your opinions on today's society and your take on the article. I think there are still people in society who don't believe that women are as capable and hopefully through blogs like these or articles like the ones we read in class, we can eliminate that opinion from society all together.
